<<The Cayley-Dickson process>>

 

Abstract:

The classical construction of the field C from the field R is a special case of a general construction called the Cayley-Dickson process. When one searches to extend the construction of C from R to algebras of higher dimension than 2 over the field R, there appears two possibilities: the construction of Clifford algebras and the construction of algebras got by the Cayley Dickson process. We will present both constructions with complete proofs.
