Here are the slides used during the lecture (updated regularly). Please keep however in mind that most of the lecture is on the blackboard. If you skip a lecture, ask one of your fellow students to help you to catch up, or at least to share his notes with you.

Computing final marks

The final mark is 50% term work and 50% final exam
Term work consists of webwork, two midterms and workshops

Workshops = 7%
Webwork = 10%
Midterms = 16.5% each

I have used the "section specific coursework" 5% to boost the weight of webwork and midterms
Your term grade may be subject to some mild scaling - see below.

Computing final marks - scaling

Each section will have different midterm tests, and some section may use the "section specific course work" to have quizzes or small hand-in homework assignments.
Because of this there will be mild differences in the term-work between sections.
To alleviate these differences, we may scale the term marks for each section (of 100 and 180) so that the distribution of term marks for a given section is the same as the distribution of exam marks.
For example
- If a section has hard midterms, then its term-marks will be low compared to the exam marks. In this case we may scale the term marks up a bit.
- If a section has easy midterms, then its term-marks will be high compared to the exam marks. In this case we may scale the term marks down a bit.
