Short history and objectives:
The Laboratory of Statistics and Probability of the University Paul Sabatier is from a long time a privilegiate place for developping different aspects of functional and operator-based statistics: as a matter of fact these developments concern on one side works on nonparametric estimation and on the other side statistics on Hilbert spaces (especially with infinite dimension). At the time it gained experience and variety and it appears important to us, in a scientifical point of view, to fit into this dynamic. We wanted to pursue this objective by creating the working group. Thus, just as well the scientifical interest and the actuality of the domains as the requirement of accuracy the working group participates, inside the LSP, to the expansion of knowledge on functional statistics. Finally, since the multiplicity of the members of the working group and scientifical relations, two other institues than the LSP are associated to us: the department of Biometrics and Artificial Intelligence of the National Institute of Agronomics (BIA-INRA) and the Group for Research in Informatics and Mathematics of the University Toulouse-le-Mirail.
